NOTICE

2015 will be Prism Healing Arts LLC’s 7th and final year.  We will be relocating to be closer to family.  Health and retirement issues have prompted this change in our lives to achieve more support and balance.  During 2015 I will not be accepting any new clients.  All clinical records will be maintained for 7 years beyond the last date of service.  During this time I will maintain this web site, e-mail address (prismhealingarts@yahoo.com) and the business phone (937-657-7721).

Working with Prism clients, group members and staff has been a blessing in my life.         Linda Sattem

We have completed our sixth year at Prism Healing Arts, LLC.  We continue to offer quality community-based mental health services.

Workshops, Programs and Support Group

We did not offer any workshops or supports groups in the summer or fall of 2014.  Practicing Peace with Our Bodies was offered through May 2014.

Private Practice

Prism Healing Arts, LLC    2013-2014

We have completed our fifth year at Prism Healing Arts, LLC.  We continue to offer a variety of quality community-based mental health services.  For the past year (April 2013-March 2014) we offered the following workshops, programs and support group at no charge to the Greater Miami Valley.

Workshops, Programs and Support Group

Practicing Peace with Our Bodies, a support group, meet monthly September through May.  We brought in a speaker on the connections with food and diabetes, explored vegan foods and diet, and worked on ways to be gentle and supportive of our bodies.

Proof of Heaven: Exploring Death, Grief, Spirituality and Loss, was a workshop lead by Gina Veno, RN, BSN, based on the book Proof of Heaven (2012).

Touch for Health Kinesiology was offered by Ann Poortinga, a private health practitioner, as an interactive workshop.

On the creative side, Mary Ellen Fogg’s Painting Fabrics workshop was so popular we offered it both in the summer and fall 2013 to accommodate all the interested participants.

The sewing workshop fall 2013 taught participants how to make Walker Bags, which were then donated to two area nursing homes.

A variety of training, education, consultation and presentation offerings were provided to area churches, colleges, professionals, agencies and organizations.

Private Practice

Prism Healing Arts, LLC was begun to offer high quality mental health counseling.  We continue to meet our service goal by offering pro bono, reduced fees and participating in Give An Hour with 35% of our clients this past year.  Give An Hour is a national effort by mental health professionals to offer free services to active military, their dependents and families.  Being so close to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, this has been an active program at Prism Healing Arts, LLC all five years.

Lisa Schauer, PCC has relocated and ended her work with Prism Healing Arts, LLC in December.  She has been a wonderful asset to the organization, we miss her and wish her all the best.

Prism Healing Arts, LLC        2012-2013

We have just completed our fourth year of offering a variety of quality community-based mental health services.  For the past year (April 2012-March 2013) the following, with the exception of Private Practice, were provided to the public and/or organizations free of charge in the greater Miami Valley area.

Workshops, Programs & Support Groups

Practicing Peace with Our Bodies, a support group, continued to meet monthly addressing ways to be kind to ourselves especially with our eating patterns.

Boost Your Power was a health and wellness workshop series offered by Gina Veno, RN, BSN.

We made custom pillow cases during two Saturday workshops as part of the Million Pillowcase Initiative, and donated 25 to the St. Vincent Shelter in Dayton.

We continue to offer a variety of training, presentations and consultation with churches, service organizations, veteran’s groups, and colleges.   Last year, due to a severely ill family member, we did not offer as many workshops and programs as we would have liked.  This year is looking better all around!

Private practice

Prism Healing Arts, LLC was begun with the intent to offer high quality mental health counseling.  We have been able to realize our goal to offer pro bono or reduced fee services to 34% and 19% of our clients respectively.  This includes our pro bono participation in Give An Hour for a fourth year, with up to three clients at a time, who are active military, their dependents and families.

During our fourth year the private practice continued to expand.  We offered mental health services through Prism Healing Arts, LLC at a local college, much to our surprise to eventually  60% of the inaugural class.  We also offered interim clinical supervision to the staff at a local agency for three months.

Lisa Schauer, LSW, PC continues with Prism Healing Arts, LLC part time.

Prism Healing Arts, LLC    2011-2012

We have just completed our third year of offering a variety of quality community-based mental health services.  For the past year (April 2011-March 2012) the following, with the exception of Private practice, were provided to the public and/or organizations free of charge in Greene, Clark and Montgomery Counties.

Workshops, Programs & Support Groups

Life Tapestry, a series of workshops for persons with cancer and their supporters, was once again offered through the Springfield Regional Cancer Center with the gracious support of their staff member, Ann Hembree, LSW.   The series focuses on teaching coping and relaxation skills, with expression of feelings through various art forms.

Both working with Grief and End of Overeating were our support group focuses this past year.  Practicing Peace with our Bodies is the new name of the EofO group to reflect the focus of our new study book, The Religion of Thinness (Michelle Lelwica, 2010).  Due to time restraints and small numbers, we have suspended the Grief Group for the coming year.

Drawing My Own Conclusions was a 6 week summer series offered by Kelly Basinger who authored a book with the same name (2011).  The series used artistic expressions to address such issues as family, divorce, depression and joy.  At the end of the series each participant had constructed a book of their own.

Boost Your Power was a health and wellness workshop series offered by Gina Veno, RN, BSN.  Workshops focused on lifestyle choices to live to be 100, food choices to promote healing and health, and striving for success through your beliefs.  Several of these workshops are being repeated this spring (2012).

One time workshops were also well received.  Bliss featured Tracy Hunt, PC and new author Teresa Kander on writing and healing.  Other workshops included: Hard of Hearing; Introduction to Reiki (offered twice due to demand); Introduction to Reflexology; Painting Fabrics; In Stitches and Sacred Cloth.

We continue to offer a variety of training, presentations and consultations with churches, service organizations, veteran’s groups, and colleges.

Private practice

Prism Healing Arts, LLC was begun with the intent to offer high quality mental health counseling.  We have been able to realize our goal to offer pro bono or reduced fee services to up to 40% of our clients at a given time.  This includes our participation in Give An Hour for a third year, where we offer free mental health counseling to active military, their dependents and families.

During our third year the private practice rapidly expanded.  Unfortunately this required us to suspend the Grief Support Group, and we have not been able to offer as many workshops and seminars as we would like.  We were also asked to offer counseling services through Prism at a local college for a limited time.

Lisa Schauer, LSW, PC, continues with Prism Healing Arts, LLC part time.  Additionally, Barbara Friedly, RN, MRC is offering Reflexology at our facility.  Annette Newell, MRC, our Reiki presenter, offered services at Prism last summer and unfortunately was unable to continue due to health concerns.

Thank you for your support, we look forward to the coming year!  Linda Lee Sattem

Prism Healing Arts, LLC        2010-2011

Prism Healing Arts, LLC continues to offer a variety of quality community-based mental health services.   For a second year the following, with the exception of Private Practice, were provided to the public and/or organizations free of charge in Greene, Clark and Montgomery Counties.

Workshops, Programs & Support Groups

Life Tapestry is a series of workshops for persons with cancer and their supporters.  It focuses on teaching coping and relaxation skills, with expression of feelings through various art forms.

Bliss, a 6 week writing-healing workshop and support series was offered last summer.  Our monthly book discussions continue to be vibrant and fun.

Both working with Grief and End of Overeating were our support group focuses this past year. The End of Overeating group grew out of reading the book by the same name in our book discussion group.

Our series on sewing and quilting workshops, In Stitches met monthly and featured a summer workshop by an area quilt artist on painting fabrics.   We added a second monthly workshop Sacred Cloth to focus on making projects that were spiritual-based.  We have use two books with Sacred Cloth, Quilting to soothe the soul (Carlson) and With sacred threads: Quilting and the spiritual life (Larsen & Davis).

Presentations, Training & Consultation

We continue to offer a variety of training, presentations and consultation with churches, service organizations, veteran’s groups, and colleges.

Private practice

Prism Healing Arts, LLC was begun with the intent to offer high quality mental health counseling.  Through tier-based fees and pro-bono services we have been able to realize our goal and the practice is steadily growing. An increasing number of insurance companies are referring to Prism, even without our accepting any insurance (go figure…).

Our colleague, Lisa Schauer, LSW graduated from the University of Dayton, passed her exam to earn her Professional Counselor license, began a full time position and has continued with Prism Healing Arts part time.

Future

Beginning this summer we will offer a series of special programs and workshops, including Life Tapestry with the Springfield Regional Cancer; Drawing My Own Conclusions (Basinger, 2011) series; Bliss writing/healing; Painting Fabrics; Introduction to Reiki; and Art Therapy.  We have begun negotiations with different groups and individuals and hope to soon offer more services and support groups based in our facility. Watch for details and thank you for your support during our second year!

Prism Healing Arts, LLC        2009-2010

Prism Healing Arts, LLC is dedicated to offering quality community-based mental health services.   In our first year the following, with the exception of Private Practice, were provided to the public and/or organizations free of charge in Greene, Clark and Montgomery Counties.

Workshops & Programs

Life Tapestry was developed and offered first in Springfield at the Regional Cancer Center, and then in Fairborn.   Life Tapestry is a series of workshops for persons with cancer and their supporters.  It focuses on teaching coping and relaxation skills, with expression of feelings through various art forms.

We have offered workshops around creating Pillowcases that Heal and Pillows that Remember, and donated many of our products to an area agency for abused and neglected children.   The interested in these programs lead to the development of In Stitches, a series of quilting workshops.

Cite visits   and open houses  with area professionals, agencies, church members and clergy have enabled the message of Prism Healing Arts, LLC to be spread throughout the community.

Book Discussions

Our monthly book discussions have been lively and enlightening.  They have resulted in the spin-off of a monthly support group (The End of Overeating) and a 6 session writing/healing support group (Bliss).

Presentations & Trainings

It has been exciting to offer training and presentations at churches, service organizations, veteran’s groups, colleges and through community health fairs.  This has lead to an unexpected process of consultation with area clergy, professionals and community leaders.

Support Groups

Both working with families in grief and supporting families with deployed members were our support group focuses in our first year.  The targeting of adolescents and working with families of those deployed were not successful.

Private practice

Prism Healing Arts, LLC was begun with the intent to offer high quality mental health counseling.  Through tier-based fees and pro-bono services we have been able to realize our goal.

Future

We look forward to our second year in the community, offering mental health services, training and education to those in need.  Thank you for your support during our first year!
